Selection of the Pressure Transducers
2024-04-11 14:36Pressure instrument transmitters are an indispensable type of automated instrumentation for modern industrial processes. During the installation and use of pressure transducer transmitters, some problems often occur. In addition to failure analysis of the industrial pressure transmitter itself, there is also a possibility that the digital pressure transducer selection is in error. The following factors need to be considered to make sure that the selection of the pressure transducer transmitter is correct.
First, we should confirm the type of pressure to be measured. The main types of pressures measured by pressure indicator transmitters are gauge pressure, absolute pressure, differential pressure, and sealing pressure. Therefore, when choosing a pressure transducer transmitter, we must clarify the type of pressure to be measured.
Second, we should confirm the range of the industrial pressure transmitter. Generally speaking, you need to choose a pressure indicator transmitter with a pressure range that is about 1.5 times larger than the maximum value of the measured pressure. The reason is that pressure has peaks and constant irregular up and down fluctuations. Such momentary spikes can destroy the digital pressure transducer. Pressure values that overflow the calibrated maximum value of the pressure instrument transmitter will shorten the life of the industrial pressure transmitter. Therefore, when choosing a pressure instrument transmitter, we should fully consider the measured pressure range.
Third, confirm the safe overload pressure of the pressure transducer transmitter.
Fourth, consider the medium that the digital pressure transducer measures. For example, viscous liquid or mud will block the pressure interface of the industrial pressure transmitter. Corrosive media can damage the materials in the pressure instrument transmitter that are in direct contact with it. Generally speaking, the material of the part of the digital pressure transducer in contact with the medium is 316 stainless steel. If the measured medium is not corrosive to 316 stainless steel, then basically all pressure instrument transmitters are suitable for the measurement of the medium. If the measured medium is corrosive to 316 stainless steel, then we can add the sealing on the pressure transducer transmitter. In this way, the digital pressure transducer is not only able to measure the medium but also to protect themselves.
Fifth, the temperature of the medium to be measured should be within the temperature range set by the industrial pressure transmitter. Using the pressure transducer transmitter over temperature will not only produce large measurement errors but also affect the service life of the pressure indicator transmitter. In higher temperature occasions, you can choose a high-temperature type pressure indicator transmitter, or for the industrial pressure transmitter to install a condensation tube, radiator, and other auxiliary cooling equipment.
Sixth, to determine the type of output signal they need to derive. According to the different uses, the pressure indicator transmitter has different output signals, for example, mV, V, mA, frequency output, and digital output. Among them, 4-20mA and 0~10V output signals are more common.
