AUTO Instrument Technical Team Visits Local Chemical Powder Manufacturing Plant
2025-03-12 09:13Recently, AUTO Instrument's technical personnel and management team visited a nearby chemical powder manufacturing plant. The plant has been utilizing AUTO Instrument's products, such as single flange pressure transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, electromagnetic flowmeters, pipeline systems, and flow measurement solutions for many years. The purpose of this visit was not only to discuss existing issues but also to assist in planning for large-scale procurement during the plant's second-phase construction.
Key Case Study:
Issue:
The plant has a main flowmeter installed outside, which is used by the client to monitor the total flow consumption. However, the readings from this meter do not match those of the plant’s internally purchased flowmeter.
Analysis & Resolution:
Based on on-site observations by AUTO Instrument’s technical experts, the following factors were identified as the primary causes of the discrepancy:
Excessive Pipeline Bends: The plant’s internal pipeline has five bends, including two 90-degree vertical turns. These excessive bends can significantly affect flow measurement accuracy.
Insulation Issues: The flowmeter body was wrapped in cotton. In winter, plant personnel covered the meter with cotton to prevent freezing. However, in summer, this insulation caused the flowmeter body to overheat, potentially affecting its performance.
Pipeline Diameter Mismatch: The plant personnel mentioned that the pipeline’s diameter was slightly larger than the DN200 flange size of the electromagnetic flowmeter. Since the plant’s pipeline does not conform to the standard DN200 size, variations in pipe diameter or flow restriction could lead to measurement discrepancies.
This visit provided valuable insights for both parties, strengthening the long-term cooperation between AUTO Instrument and the chemical plant while paving the way for future large-scale equipment procurement. Additionally, the discussions during the visit helped clarify critical operational challenges and provided actionable recommendations for optimizing the plant’s flow measurement system. AUTO Instrument’s experts proposed customized solutions to enhance measurement accuracy and reliability, ensuring that future installations align with the plant’s evolving requirements. Moving forward, both teams will continue working closely to implement these improvements and establish a more efficient and standardized approach to flow monitoring within the facility. For this chemical plant, accurate electromagnetic flowmeter data is crucial, as it directly corresponds to the plant’s actual expenditures, influencing cost control and overall operational efficiency.
